Speaking of Treasures. . .

I saw a Bible stamp at Joann’s recently and wish I could run and get it for Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenge #80. In lieu of that however, I’m gonna show and tell an altered ATC I did sometime ago instead. The theme was “shrines” and I ran a mini-stamp wheel (Clearsnap) over the top layer of the ATC, and cut the center out. Then I cut out a small piece of yellow fun foam, you know, yellow for gold, directed the heat gun over it and when it began to curl, I quickly stamped the cross (PSX, D-2514) into the foam and held it there until it cooled. Then I assembled the ATC, cutting the top corners off evenly and spritz’d Tattered Angel’s Walnut stain over the top of the whole thing to “antique” it. I added the punched heart and sentiment (Stampcraft, 440524). There be my treasure!

A Cool Cross Bookmark

Here’s a quick little project to make as a gift, especially if you have some fun background paper left over from another project. I brayered a whole sheet of white cardstock with a rainbow ink pad, then cut it into quarters, for four cross bookmarks. Then I cut small slits across the cross with a craft knife and threaded shiny ribbon through. I added the silk flower and leaves to the center with an eyelet. If you wish, to the back you could stamp “To” & “From” and perhaps a small scripture verse. Easy peasy!

Beloved By the Father

Michaels had this idea card sheet of three little Hero Art girls that I thought would be appropriate for three little Me & My Big Ideas Girl stamps I had a home. Whereas they used pink cardstock, I used yellow; they used wide pink ribbon behind the girls, I taped on a narrow multicolored one behind mine; they used a pink silk blossom and a pearl beside their girls, I used three paper blossoms and buttons per Stampin’ Sisters in Christ #78 challenge. You know, I think I’m liking that watercolor pencil and Marvy Blender Pen technique more and more everytime I use it to color in images. Any tips for me?

A Script

"Always be prepared to give an answer . . ." ~ 1 Peter 3:15

A soldier is said to have an automatic response when faced with firing from the enemy. He has been trained by constant practice with his firearm to shoot quickly and straight at the target.
Was my face red when I couldn't explain my Christian beliefs and our basic church doctrine to a group of ladies during a recent card-making gathering. I drew a blank until I returned home and remembered what I should have said. Now it was too late to go back and redo it. I lost my chance to make a great first impression, because I hadn't rehearsed what I believe in my mind for the moment I needed it.
It won't do any good to beat myself up about it though. I will learn from this experience and practice an answer that should have been there for next time.

Prayer: Father, forgive me. Thank you for not holding my failure against me. I pray for wisdom and ask for your help in my daily life. Help me put together words so I'll be ready. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Today’s Quote: Outreach to the larger community is essential to the mission of the church. There are churches that exist separate from their own neighborhoods, islands of Christians closed off from the people outside the church doors. This is not what God intended, and it is not good for the long-term health of the church. We are called to be a beacon to the world, announcing and celebrating the love of Christ. A card ministry can, in its own quiet way, be one of the threads that draw us closer to one another, and thereby to God." ~ Sue Banker
